Home Inspections… Are They Really Necessary?

More and more on high-end home we are seeing expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam architectural moldings, cornices, trims, etc. used in conjunction with both traditional stucco and exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS). The two videos below offer insight to both the application and when necessary, the repair process for this material.

Stucco: Install architectural foam shapes or moldings

Stucco: Repairing a styrofoam molding or trim

We are seeing many manufactured stone cladding installations on wood frame houses that do not include drainage recommendations made by the Masonry Veneer Manufacturers Association (MVMA). These include below grade terminations and the lack of moisture drainage planning including the lack of a weep screed. Click here to view the MVMA Installation Guide.
